Community Guidelines

Inclusion

  • Autonomous Gallery welcomes people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, nationalities, and abilities.

Accessibility

  • We invite everyone to participate in our classes and events, regardless of ability to pay.

  • If you can, please come free of fragrances.

  • Masking is optional; please stay home if you have a cold, flu, fever, etc.

Reciprocity

  • This space runs entirely on donations.

  • Please support the space by actively participating, donating money to sustain the gallery, volunteering, and hosting new events.

  • Be mindful of what you give and what you take.

Consent

  • Ask for help if you need support.

  • Respect personal boundaries. Ask first (such as before offering someone a hug or giving/receiving advice) and honor their yes or no.

  • If you violate someone else’s boundaries or threaten or cause them serious harm, we will ask you to leave the gallery and the breezeway.

Conflict

  • We value respectful disagreement; listening and sharing with an open heart, we learn and grow.

  • If someone tells you that something you said or did caused them harm, listen to the impact it had, regardless of your intent. Focusing on the intent can cause more harm than the initial interaction.

  • “Move at the speed of trust” (adrienne marie brown). Allow for time and space before attempting to heal or repair conflict.

Safety

  • Police and carceral systems do not keep us safe. Wherever possible, we aim to keep each other safe through mutual aid, accountability, and care.

  • We have naloxone available for responding to opiate overdoses. However, in case of fire or other medical emergency, we may need to call 9-1-1.
