Who We Are

Our Story

Autonomous Gallery opened our doors in June 14, 2024 at 419 Georgia St., Suite #8 (back of the breezeway on the left). Our first event was Coffee and Collage, a monthly activity which has been going strong and growing ever since.

Autonomous Gallery is a community-centered third space in Vallejo dedicated to creative practice, cultural exchange, and collective care. Rooted in the belief that art is essential to individual and community well-being, the gallery evolves in response to the needs of the people it serves. Our mission is to provide an inclusive, accessible space for people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds to gather, collaborate, and create.

Since its inception, Autonomous Gallery has cultivated strong, reciprocal relationships with Vallejo-based artists, small businesses, social justice organizations, and civic institutions. These collaborations support exhibitions, workshops, pop-up markets, healing-centered programming, and community conversations that strengthen Vallejo’s creative and social ecosystems.

Zachary "Z" Seth Greer

Owner & Operator

Zachary Seth Greer is a multidisciplinary artist and founder of Autonomous Gallery in Vallejo, California. Working across painting, woodworking, collage, printmaking, pyrography, and assemblage, his work explores memory, impermanence, transformation, ecological grief, and cycles of growth, decay, and renewal. His practice is informed by his work as a death doula and a lifelong relationship to craftsmanship, repair, and reclaimed materials.

Through Autonomous Gallery, Greer extends this practice into community, creating space for artists and neighbors to gather, collaborate, and imagine new possibilities through art, healing, and activism. His work seeks to transform grief and uncertainty into connection, creativity, and collective possibility.

Ariana Rice

Steward

info@mysite.com

Ariana got involved in the Vallejo community in 2025 while living in Benicia and quickly became immersed in Autonomous Gallery after searching for healing spaces and like-minded people. This space has been a haven for connecting with others around spirituality through The Healing Arts (THA) Clinic and Interdependence Sangha and also reignited her passion for creating art through Coffee & Collage.

Ariana offers healing services at THA Clinic, hosts the Melodies and Mantras singing circle, and supports the gallery with event preparation and coordination, stewardship meetings, and ensuring a safe and inclusive space.

Rachel "Ray" McLean

Organization Development

Ray has been living in Vallejo since 2020, when she came from Oakland in search of affordable housing and, amidst the isolation of the COVID pandemic, art + community. She began sharing her collaged cards at Vallejo Art Walk to find her people in 2022 and was soon delighted to find a political, spiritual, and artistic home at Autonomous Gallery.

In addition to being a regular at Coffee & Collage and starting Interdependence Sangha, Ray supports the gallery by facilitating stewardship meetings, building our base of monthly donors, copywriting grants and guidelines, and helping translate our ideas and values into action.
